This week’s Essential New Tune comes from two legends in the game. Firstly, Mr Carl Cox, what more can we say about Carl? We have been talking about him on this station, on this show, since I started in 1991. The man is still going strong, finishing off his residency at Space last year, and was back in Ibiza with some special events this year. He continues to dominate dance floors all over the world, especially with his prowess on the techno scene. Secondly, one of Carl’s true heroes. Carl has quite literally been playing this guy’s music his whole life, we are talking about Nile Rodgers, Mr Chic and an amazing producer, writer and musician in his own right. He has been on a massive comeback since he not only beat cancer but also since teaming up with Daft Punk on their memorable return as well. So this new track is Nile Rodgers and Carl Cox, it’s called Beat The Track, it’s forthcoming on the label run by Carl’s best friend Eric Powell, Bush. Check this out, a world premier.
This week's featured Essential New Tune was featured in last week’s Friday show on BBC Radio 1. Listen again and forward to 31:45 mins here.
