  • The Sunday Times' list of Britain’s 500 most influential people includes dance-related names, amongst them Annie Mac (BBCRadio1), Calvin Harris and Jamie xx. (Sunday Times)
  • Chris Price is to be the new Head Of Music for BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, replacing George Ergatoudis who is moving to Spotify shortly. (RotD)
  • Massive Attack have released an iPhone app called Fantom, a "sensory music player" that actively remixes pieces of music based on the user's heartbeat, location, local time, and movement. (Verge)
  • Cür Media has launched its Cür Music streaming service in the US, breaking the mould of the familiar $9.99-a-month music subscription. (MusicAlly) Its two-tier structure offers a $2.99 (Octo) and $6.99 (Inked) a month package, with Inked allowing for offline-listening. On-demand streaming is limited to a selected eight tracks a day as the model focuses on playlists and radio. 
  • Amazon's Prime Music streaming service is adding Prime Stations, online radio which will offer themed playlists around genre or artists, and lyrics functionality. (MusicWeek)
  • Amazon is estimated to have spent more than $3bn last year on content for its streaming music and video services, to encourage renewals for Amazon Prime memberships. (BusinessInsider)
  • Spotify is going to start rolling out videos, although as yet it's not been clear on what kinds would be pushed. (BusinessInsiderWSJBillboard) The US, UK, Germany and Sweden will be the first to be given the video content, initially in Spotify’s Android app, with iOS following next week.
  • SoundCloud has launched a charts section on its website covering all music and audio on the service.
  • Belfast’s AVA festival have officially announced their line-up, featuring sets from the likes of Mano Le Tough, Gerd Janson, Rødhåd, and the UK debut of Bicep's new live show. (Thump)
  • Sónar’s flagship festival in Barcelona has unveiled a fresh batch of names confirmed for the coming edition, including Four Tet, John Talabot and James Blake. (XLR8R)
